Deconstructing modernism discourse in Indonesian history textbooks during the military regime (1975–1998)

چکیده
This study aimed to criticize modernism discourse in Indonesian high school history textbooks. It focused on (1) The textbooks’ as a national identity and (2) weaknesses of identity. A total six textbooks from 1975 the 1994 curriculum were examined using Discourse Historical Approach (DHA) developed by Martin Reisigl. DHA combines theory, method, methodology with empirical data-based practice. analysis used arguments speech acts statements support truth claims validity. results showed that Dutch colonial government left economic exploitation began cultural association help Indonesia become modern nation.
